The new beer spa will be located southeast of the existing Sel-Hótel Mývatn, facing the lake to offer a stunning view. Large openings on the east side will frame this view, with ground-level doors connecting indoor spaces to an expansive outdoor terrace. Public areas, such as the souvenir shop, snack bar, and brewery, will occupy the ground floor for accessibility, while more private spaces, such as treatment rooms and changing areas, will be on the second floor. A third-floor semi-outdoor terrace, sheltered by a pitched roof, will provide a unique year-round experience. CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS: Utilizing a concrete foundation and core, the main structure will feature a timber design, respecting local construction practices. Cross-laminated timber (CLT) will support wide columns, beams, and slabs, while dark or charred wood as cladding will echo the region's earthy tones. Each floor will cantilever on the east side, enhancing the terrace's shelter and interior lighting. ACCESSIBILITY & CIRCULATION: Thoughtful design separates visitor flows, distinguishing those visiting for leisure or the brewery from spa guests. Accessibility is prioritized, with a northern elevation facilitating movement across all levels. Staircases strategically placed offer access to different areas, ensuring spa visitors have a dedicated entry to maintain privacy and convenience.
