AGRIBOX reimagines vertical farming as both a high-performance agricultural machine and a cultural landmark for South Los Angeles. Conceived as a modular megastructure, it provides vast column-free interiors by leveraging off-site steel systems from Manni Sipre. These truss-based units maximize spatial flexibility while streamlining fabrication, installation, and long-term scalability. Wrapped in a high-performance glass envelope, AGRIBOX is divided into three thermally independent climate zones, each served by dedicated AHUs. This system fine-tunes growing environments to specific crops, improving yield and energy efficiency. The inner workings of agriculture are made visible through a spiraling glass walkway that offers controlled public access and a didactic journey from soil to harvest. A luminous LED matrix embedded in the façade projects dynamic interpretations of crop circles—ancient symbols of cultivation—bridging the agricultural past with a technological future. This digital skin also acts as a low-light beacon during nighttime conditions and wildfire events, addressing contemporary safety needs. At the top, a rooftop community space—reached by a continuous public spiral stair—invites visitors to rest, learn, and engage with the landscape while observing farming against the skyline. The result is a rare fusion of education, sustainability, and urban leisure. AGRIBOX is not merely a farm; it is a beacon of future agriculture—an urban infrastructure designed for resilience, transparency, and collective nourishment.
